Divadelní revue 3/2018 brings, among others, studies on Divadlo Na zábradlí, Byzantine theatre and Irish-language culture. In the article "The Birth of Schorm's Era (Divadlo Na zábradlí 1975-1978)" Martin J. Švejda, with the contribution of Věra Velemanová, follows up on his study on the beginning of the so-called normalisation in the same theatre (see DR 3/2016) and focuses on the period when Jaroslav Chundela was the artistic director of the drama. Alena Sarkissian continues her series of studies and translations of texts by Byzantine authors devoted to theatre, or rather its religious criticism. She deals with a chapter of the writings of Symeon of Thessalonica, Dialogue Against Heresies, which reflects the crisis in the encounter between the culture of the Christian East and the culture of the Christian West in the 14th century, using the case of the criticism of Western theatre. Radvan Markus has prepared an essay on the connections between Czech literature and the Irish-speaking environment. He discusses the 1941 performance of Čapek's The White Sickness in Galway's Irish-language Taibhdhearc Theatre and the 1986 radio adaptation of Hašek Švejk by the writer, journalist and initiator of contacts with Central Europe Breandán Ó hEithir. The issue features an interview with Brno-based theatre historian and educator Margita Havlíčková, reviews of recent publications, and Pavel Drábek comprehensively summarizes the papers and presents his conclusions from the 2018 Perspectives of Theatre Studies conference.
