The pro-export SoundCzech office is happy to announce that the prestigious music showcase, festival and conference Eurosonic Noordeslag 2019 will focus on the Czech Republic and Slovakia. In association with the SoundCzech director Márton Náray and Michal Kaščák, the director of the Pohoda festival in Slovakia, Eurosonic Noordeslag prepared the very first dual-focus showcase for 2019.

ESNS (Eurosonic Noordeslag) is a place where the professionals and the general public discover and approach new European talents. Thanks to the festival, names like Aurora, Dua Lipa, Hozier, Mø and Vök have become widely known as they appeared as emerging artists at the ESNS. The ESNS entices more than 4,000 representatives of music and
entertainment industry, including 400 European festival representatives. The ESNS presents 350 performances on its stages in Groningen every year, offers a complex conference program and many opportunities for networking.

“The Czech music scene has been incredibly lively with more than 500 summer festivals, the flourishing club scene and dozens of wonderful talents. I am very happy to have the opportunity to show European music professionals what we have to offer. It is happening at the right time as it is the 100 th anniversary of the foundation of Czechoslovakia this year. We are glad about such a cultural gift and we are happy that the work of SoundCzech has been demonstrated positively,” says SoundCzech artistic director Márton Náray.

The Czech Republic is not new to the ESNS. Czech representatives have traditionally been part of the festival and since 2016, Radio Wave has delegated the winners of Czeching, its export project, to Eurosonic. It was Zagami Jericho, who went to Groningen this January together with HRTL and Never Sol, who were supported by SoundCzech as well. The year of 2019 will also be unique due to a high number of Czechoslovak concerts at the ESNS.

The pro-export SoundCzech office is established by the Arts and Theatre Institute.
